Born in Columbus, Ohio and raised during segregation, Owens was one of the first Black athletes to integrate the University of Miami’s football program. After a standout college career, he went on to play in the NFL, including as a key player on the 1980 Super Bowl-winning Oakland Raiders team.
After retiring from football, Owens faced a series of personal and financial setbacks that forced him to start over. Through faith, hard work, and entrepreneurship, he rebuilt his life. His journey became a powerful testimony to the importance of second chances and the dignity of work.
An Advocate for Faith, Family, and Freedom
Owens entered politics not to become a career politician, but to serve. In 2020, he flipped a competitive seat in Utah, becoming one of the few Black Republicans in Congress. His message resonated with voters tired of top-down government control and radical cultural shifts.
In office, Owens has been a tireless advocate for school choice, border security, religious liberty, and fiscal responsibility. He serves on the House Education and the Workforce Committee and the Judiciary Committee, where he consistently pushes back against progressive overreach and fights for policies that uplift families and communities.
